We're so glad you're here!

Each month, more than 400 volunteers give thousands of hours at the Center — and we couldn't serve our Guests without them. A few hours of your time can help provide stability, dignity, and hope to people experiencing homelessness.

You can:

  • Help prepare and serve meals daily in our kitchen

  • Help organize and sort donations through our retail partnership with Practical Resale

  • Work the front desk, greeting Guests and helping visitors navigate the Center

  • Support our Weather Amnesty program during extreme cold events (Nov 1 – April 30)

  • Teach or assist with a class through our programming (life skills, education, recreation, etc.)

  • Help plan or staff events for our Guests

Note: Volunteers under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.

How do I get started?

  1. Open an account on our Bloomerang Volunteer platform and sign up with our organization.

  2. Within 48 hours, you'll get an email inviting you to attend our on-site volunteer orientation — where you'll learn about the people we serve, which opportunities fit your schedule, and meet CFH staff.

  3. Once you've attended orientation, your volunteer status is activated and you can view and register for open shifts.

  4. Shift times and frequency vary by role — front desk, kitchen, and Weather Amnesty shifts run on set schedules; classes and events are posted as they're scheduled; Practical Resale shifts are available during store hours.

Want to bring a group, teach a class, or have other questions?

Reach out to mnanni@cfh.net:

  • Groups: We can host small groups for kitchen shifts (up to 3) and larger groups for on-site projects, events, and donation sorting at Practical Resale. Put "GROUP" in your subject line.

  • Teaching: Have a skill or subject to share — financial literacy, job readiness, art, fitness, or something else? Put "CLASS" in your subject line to learn about our programming volunteer track.

  • Anything else: Just email — happy to help.
