Each month, more than 400 volunteers give thousands of hours at the Center — and we couldn't serve our Guests without them. A few hours of your time can help provide stability, dignity, and hope to people experiencing homelessness.

You can:

• Help prepare and serve meals daily in our kitchen

• Help organize and sort donations through our retail partnership with Practical Resale

• Work the front desk, greeting Guests and helping visitors navigate the Center

• Support our Weather Amnesty program during extreme cold events (Nov 1 – April 30)

• Teach or assist with a class through our programming (life skills, education, recreation, etc.)

• Help plan or staff events for our Guests

 

Note:​ Volunteers under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

How do I get started?

1. Sign up for a volunteer orientation through our Bloomerang Volunteer platform. You’ll provide the information we need to get you started and choose an upcoming orientation that works for you.

2. Attend your on-site orientation — you’ll learn about the people we serve, tour the Center, learn about volunteer opportunities, and meet CFH staff.

3. Get approved as a volunteer after orientation. Once approved, you’ll be able to view and register for open volunteer shifts through Bloomerang.

4. Find opportunities that fit your schedule. Shift times and frequency vary by role. Front desk, kitchen, and Weather Amnesty shifts run on set schedules; classes and events are posted as they’re scheduled; and Practical Resale shifts are available during store hours.
